Summer Camps 2019

CAMP REGISTRATION FOR 2019 WILL OPEN MAY 1ST.

Whether you enjoy animals, crafts, or outdoor fun, we have a camp for you. Discover nature, gardening, archaeology, animals, weaving, and many more exciting activities. Spend your summer with us and learn all about the different aspects of life here in New Mexico. Registration begins May 1.

Camps fill up quickly and pre-registration and payment up front is required. Please read over the camp descriptions carefully before registering.

Refund Policy

  • 80% refund will be issued for cancellations received four weeks prior to camp start date.
  • 50% refund will be issued for cancellations received three weeks prior to camp start date.
  • Cancellations received two weeks or less prior to the camp start date will receive no refund.
  • NOTE: disruptive children will be dismissed without a refund.

2019 Camp Offerings

June 4-6 from 9:30 to 12:00 (Ages 13-17)

$40 for non-members, $35 for members

This introductory art workshop will cover the basics of block printmaking and teach students how to continue to create works at home. We will print on paper, sticker material, and fabric like t-shirts. Note that we will work with sharp tools and permanent inks. Please dress accordingly. All supplies included.

June 11-13 from 10:00-1:00 (Ages 11-14)

$40 for non-members, $35 for members

Have you ever wondered what an archaeologist does? Learn about locating sites, the excavation process, and where artifacts go after they have been discovered. Please bring a lunch, a hat, and sunscreen every day.

June 18-20 from 9:30 to 12:30 (Ages 9-11)

$40 for non-members, $35 for members

Participants will learn about the wildlife that lives around the Museum and the native plants that make up the landscape. Students will play games, make sun prints, and finish the camp with a recyclable art project. Please bring a lunch, a hat, and sunscreen every day.

June 25-27 from 9:30-11:30 (Ages 7-11)

$40 for non-members, $35 for members

Do you have the skills to survive in the past? Learn how to grind corn, dip candles, spin wool, and more, while discovering New Mexico history.

July 9-11 from 9:00 to 12:30 (Ages 7-11)

$35 for non-members, $30 for members

Ever wonder how a sheep’s fleece is transformed into fabric? Students will prepare wool from the Museum’s sheep and learn to spin, dye, and weave. Please bring a lunch every day.

$30 for members, $25 for non-members

Do you love farm animals? Join us for farm animal story time and crafts, then visit with the animals at the Museum and build your own farm!
