Classes and Camps

The museum offers summer camps, Saturday classes, and homeschool classes for K-12 students. Classes and camps are a great way to learn about the history of farming, ranching, and rural life in New Mexico.

Summer Camps

The museum offers 2- to 3-day summer camps beginning in June. Children can explore a wide variety of topics including gardening, archaeology, ecology, and fiber arts.

The camps are taught by museum staff members or museum volunteers who are experienced in teaching the topic.

Summer Camps for 2019 registration will begin May 1st.

Saturday Classes

Throughout the school year, the museum offers Saturday classes that engage children and adults in a variety of topics From holiday-themed family workshops to specialized weaving classes, there’s a Saturday class for everyone.

Discovery Afternoons

During the school year, the museum offers periodic Wednesday afternoon classes for home-school students. Classes are taught by museum educators or volunteers who are skilled in the topic. Topics range from agriculture to history to hands-on skills like weaving. Classes run from 2:30 pm – 4 pm. Cost is $3 per student.

What did the Spanish bring with them when they came to New Mexico? What did they eat? How did they get their food? How did they use the resources that were already here? What did they do in their spare time? Come explore daily life during the colonial period this month at one of our Discovery Afternoons.
